Pismo našeg učenika iz Holandije – posjeta muzeju
Groningen Museum
Today we went to the main city Museum of Groningen. We took our tickets and went underground to sea level, that was very interesting. The main theme was JR:CHRONICLES; it takes viewers on a journey through the artist’s career. And he gained fame around the world for Kikito, a 20 meter high photo of a curious toddler peering playfully over the border fence between Mexico and the United States. He didn’t buy a camera so he could take pictures, he found it in the Paris Metro and then he started taking pictures of graffiti artists in the tunnels and all round the world. There were also a lot of human rights themed pictures and videos like these ones.
The Museum holds one of the oldest flint and steel from the stone age. It holds all the historically important item’s like coins, crosses, lot’s of paintings and much more.
In the 1980s the city of Groningen had a thriving graffiti scene – an artistic movement that sprang from subcultures including punk and hip-hop. This exhibition brings back the pioneering years of local graffiti and street art through stories, photographs and film. There are also a lot of sculptures from different artists and some silverware and plates.
There’s also one big table like sculpture which has a very special story to it.
To me it is a very interesting thing to see and to know about human rights. For example this metal link comes from the first Canadian tank that fell in hands of the Groningen army. This happened in Petersburg.
Ailke Westerhof. I find it interesting that this lady was a nurse at the Balkan Wars (1913-1918) and she was the first Dutch nurse to be awarded the Florence Medal.
It was very fun and knowledgeable to us, our recommendation is come and visit this place you won’t regret it.
